Show All 72 Reviews- I got lucky with my Amazon purchase. Pressing is flat, clean, super quiet. I will do a back to back comparo with my UK 1st press with details, but right off this remix is outstanding so let's see in a few days after I compare.
- Groove damage on both sides of record. Run ins have sleeve marks from crappy paper sleeves. 2nd one from amazon was warped too. An all around crap shoot on getting this record having passed a solid Quality inspection. Inside of my shrinkwrap the record had grease and finger prints as well. I have a feeling Roger is the reason this record was not pressed at RTI like other Floyd re-masters. This pressing is straight garbage. Even on the clean parts of the record there are random pops and what not. The paper sleeve is a dead giveaway of these being a cheap pressing. I'd order the box set if it isnt pressed at this same crappy plant.
- Was gifted for Christmas. No cracks or pops like other reviewers mentioned. Album sounds crisp and dynamic all the way through.
- Bought mine today. Groove damage on opening tracks on both sides and several very heavy clicks at similar spots on both sides. And that's after 2x 5mins in the Audio Desk Pro X ultrasonic cleaner. It's going back.
- The remaster is stunning. The pressing is horrid. There’s no excuse for this with such a high-profile release that was hyped for months online. We all deserve refunds and new copies in a presumably cleaner second pressing.
- Thankfully, my pressing was clean, flat and quiet!
As for the sound, I much prefer it over the OG, as it’s clearer and has better fidelity, but then again, Animals was never an essential Pink Floyd album for me so I’m not a purist in regards to this particular album. - Ive bought 5 copies of this vinyl all trash! All skip on sheeps .. unplayable ... First four copies I got from Amazon ...all returned .....the last copy I got from sunrise records in Canada .... I took pic of the matrix ...I love this record the remix and master is amazing ....but I need a copy that's clean ...do we know if the pressing planet is going to rectify this issue or just move on from it ...?
- Edited one month agoI spin wash all records before I play them - No sense in risking it these days. I also brush my stylus before playing each side, just in case. This pressing has moderate crackle/clicks on the first track, on both sides. Also light crackle/clicks throughout quiet sections of all tracks :( Cleaned several times, to no avail. Played this immediately after a fresh playthrough of my Japanese first pressing - No noise there... none at all :)
So, listening to it, they added some bass and some sparkle in places, but stripped away all of the edge/aggressiveness from it... kinda sucked the life out of it - Seems boring/forgettable to me. Effing surface noise ruins it for me on this pressing, more than the mix.
I dig the added bass... kinda (too much in some sections, IMO) - Like, why? Also like a few sections in Dogs where keyboards come through more. Some of the atmospheric effect improvements are cool, too. Wider soundstage... ish? (in some places it's more noticeable). It's mixed for an individual who wants to relax/take a nap. Background music.
Overall prefer the Japanese first pressing I have. That ~45 year old pressing also plays through without so much as a click. - Imagine a pressing plant were the workers that put the records inside the sleeves don’t wear gloves, don’t wash their hands and also don’t cut their finger nails. And in the end, the records are placed inside of inner sleeves made of paper similar to sand paper. If you like this remix, as a old vinyl lover, I have to say don’t buy this Lp and buy the CD version instead.
