Show All 149 Reviews- Edited 2 days agoI luckily got a really nice pressing. Gave it a clean on my Okki Nokki before playing it and there are no pops or clicks for most of the time. At the end of B3, there are a few pops that get worse after the song is over. But that's no dealbreaker for me. Otherwise it sounds really good.
- Good remix, terrible pressing. Clicks, loud pops and a skip even after a first cleaning and a rinse. Avoid.
- The music and the remix itself are incredible. It’s just unfortunately a guess if the record plays well and is in good shape
- I received a perfect copy today unexpectedly from warner records following an email to record industry about the poor pressing quality. For those interested i have added to the release as variant 6.
- You have to wonder if they ever carry out any quality control at this pressing plant, if they did then they would have thrown every pressing in the bin, shockingly bad pressing even after an ultrsonic cleaning.
- Horrible pressing, just don't buy it. Arrived with a big scratch on side 1 and many scuffs on side 2, which makes it unplayable. Just bizarre how you can mess up a release this bad
- This pressing from Record Industry is a disgrace. It's as if they have used poor quality recycled vinyl. low level noise and the odd click and pop on both sides - this is after 3 ultrasonic cleans. the remaster done by BG is very good, just a pity Record Industry screwed it up. Please re-press at Optimal.
- When I first played it it was super poppy and just absolute garbage, but after a super deep clean there's only a single pop when the song is starting, lesson here is just do a deep clean of your records when you get them even when they are new, you don't have a bad pressing you have a dusty record.
- I want to get this and my local shop said of course it can be returned if it’s faulty….but I’m still not sure if I want to take a chance on it.
How would we know if/when a new repress has been done and how would we be able to identify without cracking open? - I'm sure I don't have the sonic vocab, but it starts and ends badly with this mix, as the reverb is removed from RW's voice in both iterations of Pigs on the Wing. I miss the chilliness. Still, I like this guy's review of the remix's strengths. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZA8HtFe3xA
What I love is the packaging. It's stunning, and among the best I've ever seen. I don't need this album on vinyl (and if the comments here are anything to go by, it's a crackly mess), but I'm tempted to buy it just for the cover and booklet, whose contents are of such of a high standard they deserve their own exhibition at the nearby Tate Modern.
