Show All 109 Reviews- I originally got this last year and was hopeful a full year later, the surface noise issue would be fixed, but no.
I swapped for this and tried my luck but it's noisy as all hell too. - I had the earlier VMP press and was experiencing the same issues as everyone else. Lots of noise during the more quiet parts. I sold it and ordered the TMV VMP bundle in November 2021. I just got it yesterday and this copy sounds MUCH better. Very pleased with all the others as well. Thanks, VMP!
- I had two earlier GZ pressings that were sent to me in July and August that both had the noise issue for the first minute of side A. I sent a video+audio to VMP and got put on their waiting list for a later GZ repress which shipped out at the end of October. I played both, and I was happy to hear the issue was resolved. I feel the sound quality on this new pressing has a pleasingly silent floor and terrific dynamic range throughout. One of my October pressings is the same gold & black marble as the earlier ones, but the other October pressing is an extremely dark gold & black marble and was my preferred when I compared the two.
- Aside from surface noise issues, this is an ok pressing at best. No dynamics, everything sounds extremely compressed/brickwalled and loses clarity in loud sections. Would probably be better to invest in the original or MOV pressing for great sound quality
- I have had both clouds hill and this version. The clouds hill, also coloured variants, sounds much better in terms of surface noise. And I did receive a replacement of the VMP, however the noise floor was still quite bad from the GZ press as usual. The optimal pressed CH editions are the way to go!
- Got my replacement. Dead flat and quiet. Been waiting for a well-mastered version of this album for years. Thank you, VMP, for stepping up and standing behind your product.
- Got my replacement. Came warped which is causing a hiss on side d. Sides a-c sounded decent though. None of the surface noise on the first disc like the first copy had.
- Just received my new copy as well, and it’s much much better. As others have said, a tad bit of static n pops, but it’s absolutely better than the first run.
