Real good album indeed. The trumpet sounds so coppery. The gatefold jacket doesn't have a picture of Freddie Hubbard though. And of course : 5 stars.

This is potentially the best sounding album I own. I have a number of Tone Poets, all of them excellent listens, but this one goes above and beyond.

Do I really need ten words when I only need one to describe this stunning release displaying the best qualities in jazz musicianship, recording, mastering, pressing and packaging? *Awesome* There, I did it.

This is like having Dexter Gordon in your home, Wow this is as good as it gets from vinyl sonically and packaging. I love the Tone poet series they're amazing for the price and I wish we could have at least the top 100 jazz records at this level for $35 each (not sold out as well). I was even more fortunate by buying this on Amazon for $17 used because the jacket had a small tear on the binding but the vinyl was untouched just like new. I have a few other Tone poets and they are all worth the full price but I got them when Blue Note had a 25% sale with free shipping they were a steal at that price. The only thing I could criticize this record for is I wish they included one more ballad as I'm A Fool To Want You and Jodi just wants you asking for more it is unbelievably cool and noir.

On the back it says, “Dex displays his romance cum sexuality on ‘I’m a Fool to Want You’”. (Middle bottom).

That’s gotta be a typo right?! Or has vernacular changed that much since its release?! It’s really weirding me out! Haha.

Simply beautiful! My second Tone Poet and I'm not disappointed musically nor pressing wise. This release sounds very satisfying with its full, warm sound. Sax to the left, trompet on the right side of the soundstage. They come together so nice. Just love it. I will continue to collect these Tone Poets.

The Tone Poet series is quickly becoming a strong set of releases that will soon be “must haves” for jazz listeners everywhere. Thick gatefold covers and heavyweight vinyl will keep these sessions vibrant for years to come. Thanks Blue Note.

Fantastic! Clean, flat and flawless pressing. Dynamic with a nice wide sound stage. It has a full, warm, rich, soulful and expansive sound. It Feels like I'm there in the studio. Blue Note did a great job!

Can confirm that these Tone Poet reissues are great. Fantastic sound dynamics, flat quiet vinyl, and great gatefold pictures
