A submission was recently corrected to state that the orchestra and conductor credited to the recording was fake. Back in the day I purchased dozens of Pilz classical recordings from my local big box store for .99 cents each. Is there any way of knowing who is actually on these recordings?

Sometimes the performers are really whoever is credited on the label, the East German Revolution series is a good example - the recordings were licensed from the DDR’s radio archives.
Pilz also bought and reissued the back catalogues of budget companies such as Acanta.
